Free Filmmakers Showcase Open to all New Mexico Residents

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Film Office announced it will extend the submission deadline for the 2017 NM Filmmakers Showcase.  The new deadline for entries is Monday, July 31, 2017 at 5:00 pm. You may submit your project and application to: https://filmfreeway.com/festival/2017NewMexicoFilmmakersShowcase.
 
This annual event features a vast range of creative filmmaking talent from New Mexicans around the state. There is no charge to enter and the Showcase is free and open to the public to attend.  

A panel of local film professionals will judge the projects in various categories, and winning films will travel around the state, coordinated by the New Mexico Film Office in collaboration with local theatres and local film festivals.  

This year there are seven (7) categories for submission: drama, horror, sci-fi/fantasy, comedy, documentary, student, and music video. The maximum run time for entries is 120 minutes.

Santa Fe, N.M. - New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the television series "Graves," a single-camera, half-hour political satire produced by Lionsgate for premium TV network EPIX®, will return to film its 10-episode second season in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Bernalillo and Santa Fe, starting this week through July.
 
Starring three-time Academy Award® nominee and Golden Globe® winner Nick Nolte ("A Walk in the Woods," "The Thin Red Line"), Golden Globe® and two-time Emmy® Award-winning actress Sela Ward ("Gone Girl," "Sisters"), Skylar Astin ("Pitch Perfect"), Heléne Yorke ("Masters of Sex"), Chris Lowell ("The Help") and Callie Hernandez ("Alien: Covenant"), the production will employ at least 200 New Mexico crew members and approximately 2,500 local background talent. 
 
After a year of highly public protests against his Presidential legacy, Season 2 finds former President Richard Graves turning inward in search of the man he used to be before he was President. This journey is compounded by the arrival of his first grandchild, thanks to daughter Olivia (Heléne Yorke) and a new revelation about his son, Jeremy (Chris Lowell). Graves's journey coincides with his wife Margaret's (Sela Ward) Senate campaign, as the former First Lady attempts to build her own political legacy at the exact moment that her husband is tearing his down; and his assistant, Isaiah Miller's (Skylar Astin) search for new direction after taking a bullet for the President in the Season 1 finale.

Santa Fe, N.M. - Today the New Mexico Film Office announced a call for entries for the 2017 NM Filmmakers Showcase. The Showcase is an annual screening to expose and celebrate the work of New Mexico filmmakers and to have their project shown on the big screen.

Santa Fe, N.M. - New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the independent feature "Will Gardner," produced by Mona Vista Productions, will begin principal photography this month through the end of May, in Albuquerque, Belen, Zia Pueblo, Santa Ana Pueblo, Gallup and Jemez Mountains. 
 
"This is a really intriguing production, a road trip movie that will showcase many New Mexico landscapes including three Pueblo communities, the Jemez Mountains and Gallup, NM as well," said New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. "Once again, New Mexico's diversity of landscapes and cultures is a huge asset to the film industry."
 
"In Albuquerque we support films of all sizes and budgets. We are pleased that 'Will Gardner' has chosen their home base to be here. Their effort to shed a light on veterans' homelessness is something we have prioritized in my administration and I am grateful that they are giving back to the same community they are focusing on," said Albuquerque Mayor Richard J. Santa Fe, N.M. - New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the television series "The Night Shift," produced by Sony Pictures Television and airing on NBC, has begun principal photography through July in Albuquerque. 
 
"Season 4 continues the strong run for 'The Night Shift' and Sony Pictures Television," said New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. "The longer a TV show runs, the more contributions to our economy and the more New Mexicans work."
 
The production will employ approximately 350 New Mexico crew members, 100 New Mexico principal actors and approximately 2,500 New Mexico background talent.

SANTA FE — New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the independent feature “Long Dumb Road” produced by Long Dumb Road, LLC filmed in Albuquerque and Belen this month.
The production employed 30 New Mexico crew members, 12 New Mexico principal actors and approximately 60 New Mexico background talent.
The film is directed by Hannah Fidell (“A Teacher,” “6 Years”) and produced by Jacqueline “JJ” Ingram (“Chasing The Blues,” “Operator”) and Jonathan Duffy (“Hellion,” “6 Years”) and Kelly Williams (“Hellion,” “6 Years”).  
The independent feature stars Tony Revolori (“Dope,” “Spiderman: Homecoming”) and Jason Mantzoukas (“The House,” “Transparent”).

Santa Fe, N.M. - New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the television limited series "Waco" produced by The Weinstein Company, will begin principal photography mid-April thru the end of June in Santa Fe.  The six part series will premiere on Paramount Network in 2018.
 
"The Weinstein Company is known for high quality projects with intriguing storylines and 'Waco' is no exception," said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. "A mini-series means a longer production time, more money being spent and more people working."
                                     
"We're very happy to have 'Waco' here, particularly because of the number and variety of locations they're using throughout Santa Fe County," said County Manager Katherine Miller. SANTA FE — New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the television pilot the “Scalped” produced by Horizon Scripted Television, Inc., will begin principal photography for the month of April in Santa Fe, Pojoaque and Laguna Pueblo. 
“This is a particularly unique project dealing with modern day challenges and issues of cultural identity in Native American communities. The production has involved Native American advisors for input in presenting this sensitive subject matter.” said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis.
  

The production will employ approximately 120 New Mexico crew members, 15 New Mexico principal actors and 350 New Mexico background talent.  

“Scalped” is directed by Adil El Arbi (“Black,” “Image,” “Broeders”) and Bilall Fallah (“Black,” “Image,” “Bergica”). SANTA FE — New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the television series “Longmire” produced by The Shephard/Robin Company in association with Warner Horizon Television for Netflix, will begin principal photography at the end of March thru mid-June in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Valles Caldera, Pecos, Glorieta and other locations in northern New Mexico.   

“Season 6 of such an iconic TV show demonstrates the incredible vitality of the NM television scene,” said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “A sixth season of such a high quality show is testament to New Mexico crews, actors and support services that have made it happen so consistently for so long.”

“We're very happy to have ‘Longmire’ back this year, as we have been for the past five seasons,” said Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales. “This has become an iconic series with fans around the world, and we're proud to have been a part of it.”

"We are thrilled to be back in our second home here in New Mexico for another season of this show that we love so much," said the “Longmire” executive producers. 

The production will employ approximately 200 New Mexico crew members, 50 New Mexico principal actors and 1,000 New Mexico background talent.  

The television series produced by Hunt Baldwin, John Coveny, Greer Shephard and Michael M. Robin. The season premiere will be directed by TJ Scott.

Starring Robert Taylor, Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Cassidy Freeman and Adam Bartley, “Longmire” is is based on the Walt Longmire Mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson. The contemporary Western drama returns for its sixth season with the unflappable Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) unraveling the dark, mysterious secrets of Absaroka County, Wyoming. The new season will stream this fall on Netflix.

SANTA FE —New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that “Mission Control”, a new pilot for CBS, will begin principal photography in New Mexico.  Production will take place in Albuquerque. 

“Whenever we have another TV pilot, we have a good chance for another TV series to follow,” said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “I know New Mexico will do its part to make this pilot the best it can be and we look forward to the great TV series jobs it could bring.”

“Mission Control” is produced by CBS Television Studios. The pilot is executive produced by Brian Buckner (“True Blood,” “Friends”), Andy Weir (“The Martian”), Chic Eglee (“Hemlock Grove,” “The Walking Dead”), Genre Films’ Simon Kinberg and Aditya Sood (“Designated Survivor”), and Slingshot Global Media’s Courtney Conte (“That 70’s Show,” “Grounded for Life”) and Quan Phung (“Whitney”). The pilot is directed by Jeremy Podeswa (“Boardwalk Empire,” “Game of Thrones”).
